Headline Poem 4/10/14 -- Grace

'Hottest year ever will soon grace headlines near you.' This line caught my eye, and led to me reading this article about a developing El Nino. I focused on the heat, possible coming rain, and the word grace.

Grace

Grace isn't something
you speak without living
like a song,
it doesn't exist
until it lives
inside a story
of its own

Grace is a silver crayon,
in a box of one,
a welcome rain after the hottest sun

When night falls,
grace
is
challenged
to     a      dual
with
exhaustion      and      rage.

Your head hits the pillow.

Grace wins.
In the end,
grace wins.

Headline Poem 2/6/14 -- Soccer practice cancelled due to rain

Short and sweet today. We have rain in Southern California. It's been a long time... so long that it's a headline.

Soccer practice cancelled due to rain

I love the rain
Especially today
I get to stay home with a fire
And an IPA.
Soccer
   Is
     Cancelled.

Oh, what a bummer!
